Welcome to Stuttgart, the city that runs on four wheels. This German metropolis houses the headquarters of both Mercedes-Benz and Porsche as well as the museums dedicated to these two world-famous brands.
Former visitors at the Mercedes-Benz and Porsche museums were astonished by the detail of the museums and the variety of the exhibits. The museums aren’t just for car fanatics, they include the history and engineering behind the brands as well as car exhibits. It’s no surprise that both museums won Travellers’ Choice Awards in 2022.
This 15,000 m² exhibition space was opened in 2006 and pays homage to the history of the car: From the first car and the first race car to research cars and hydrogen vehicles. The exhibition is split into two tours, the Mythos tour and the Collection tour.
There’s also a changing exhibit which may either be integrated into the standard exhibition or may be displayed in separate rooms. The special exhibition is currently Moving in Stereo which features highlights from the Mercedes-Benz art collection. This exhibition will be there until 17.09.2023.
The Porsche museum was first opened to the public in 1976. The museum contains over 80 car exhibits and over 200 small exhibits. The museum varies the models which are on display from its collection of over 200 vehicles – including the Porsche 64, the VW Beetles and the Porsche Carrera GT.
As well as the permanent exhibits, you can also look forward to a glimpse of the Porsche archive and of the museum garage. You can watch the mechanics, upholsterers and master craftsmen at work restoring classic cars from the museum café.
